Saddam's Capture - What Does It Mean?

Ever since Saddam Hussein was captured, the media has been over it likes flies over sugar.  They presented facts and figures, histories, etc. in an effort to educate you about the evil Iraqi dictator.  But here is something I bet you didn't know.  Saddam has been an ally with the United States since 1959, when the CIA hired him to assassinate then-Iraqi Prime Minster General Abd al-Karim Qasim.  Of course, Saddam survived the attempt and later became the Iraqi leader.  While ruling in Iraq, Saddam did business with many high-ranking officials including the presidents, from Jimmy Carter to George H. Bush.

It's ironic that the United States wants to kill him considering all the years they helped and supported him.  Consider this fact, in 1980, Carter gave Saddam permission to invade Iran, which resulted in an eight year war and millions of deaths, as the United States assisted both sides.  If you had done that you would have been tried for treason.

Ronald Reagan continued to support Saddam.  Iran appeared to be winning the war with Iraqi.  To help Saddam to be victorious, Reagan's Administration began supplying technology to help Saddam to build biological and chemical weapons.  And they did this in secret.  Saddam used these weapons to defeat Iran and he went further by destroying his own Kurdish people.  And on top of this, Saudi Arabia gave Saddam more than five billion dollars so he could build his nuclear arsenal.  And both the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency knew about it.

The United States were always helping Saddam in one way or another.  In 1989, President Bush signed a top-secret directive giving continued economic assistance to Iraq.  In order to keep Iraqi markets open to American producers, in April, 1990, a team of farm-belt senators, including Robert Dole, met with Saddam.  They coerced  him into believing the Western media was the enemy, not the United States.

As you can see, the United States and Saddam do have a history.  So why is it they are glad to have captured Saddam now?  Could it be a ploy to deceive the American people to cover up their dealings and wrongdoings while engaged in business with him?  For a man they helped for so long, why are they turning against him now?  The United States Government doesn't want you to lie, cheat, or steal, but they do it everyday.  And they cover it up in the name of politics.  So what's next for the US Government?  Are they going to pay Saddam off and let him go? Time will tell.  Whatever they do, it will more or less be more lies and deceits for the American people.
